The
LOFT's History and Mission
Located
in White Plains (Westchester County), New York, The LOFT is a
not-for-profit, community-based organization serving the lesbian,
gay, bisexual, and transgendered community of the lower Hudson
Valley.
The LOFT works
to further the cause for inclusion, diversity and pride through
education, advocacy and celebration.
The
LOFT was officially born in October 1983 as a meeting place for
gay and lesbian groups and organizations. Before then, there was
simply a hotline providing information to our community. The organization
has moved twice in the past five years to accommodate the growing
needs of the community.
The
purpose of this site is two-fold: first, to provide information
about The LOFT, its services, and associated organizations; second,
to provide as much information as possible pertaining to issues
of interest to the gay/ lesbian/ bisexual/ transgendered community
in and around the lower Hudson Valley of New York.
If
you like what you see, want more information, or feel we've neglected
to include something, please feel free to e-mail The LOFT. We
want to hear from you!
