Position: Executive Director 
 
The LOFT, the LGBT Community Services Center in White Plains, New York, seeks applicants for the Executive Director position. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors, and is responsible for helping the organization achieve its mission within the financial budget and compliant to all regulations. The ED should be a visionary leader who positively affects change in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. 

Position Description:

  • Manage operations of the center and maximize synergies across the organization to achieve long-term goals
  • Develop and implement annual and long-term strategies in conjunction with the Board to achieve the LOFT's mission
  • Provide leadership in budget development, financial plans, grant reporting, and compliance
  • Identify new programming opportunities and events for the LGBT community
  • Assist in revenue generation and fundraising opportunities throughout the year
  • Advocate for the LOFT and LGBT issues in the local community, including participation in meetings of the local community/Westchester County/New York state
  • Act as a media spokesperson for the LOFT, and for LGBT and Senior issues
  • Maintain networking activities with the Program Directors of Silver Connections, the LOFT's program for LGBT individuals who are 55-plus
  • Build and nurture relationships with community members, leaders, supporters, and donors at the local, state, and national levels
  • Regularly communicate with the Board on the status of the organization and important developments affecting the LOFT
  • Foster an environment that attracts, retains, and motivates highly skilled staff and volunteers
  • Directly supervise the staff of Silver Connections, other contracted employees, and select volunteers

Qualifications: The LOFT seeks applicants with a minimum of three years experience working in the non-profit sector. Experience with grant-writing and related reporting are required. Knowledge of Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite is a must. Experience with content management and e-mail software, database, and financial software packages is a plus. A Bachelor's Degree is required; a Master's Degree is preferred. About The LOFT: The LOFT's mission is to further diversity and inclusion through advocacy, education, and celebration. The community center will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2008. The Executive Director will be asked to help organize the key events that will be part of this celebratory year. Currently, The LOFT is home to 20 groups and programs and also provides meeting space to local organizations and the regional chapters of state-wide and national organizations.
