WESTCHESTER HOMECOMING QUEER 2020 ONLINE CONTEST

Westchester Pride is proud to announce our annual Westchester Homingcoming Queer contest, online.  Since 2017, Westchester Pride has been crowning a Homecoming Queer at our June Pride events and the winner receives cash and a sash. This year we are opening our contest far and wide to any member of the LGBTQ+ Community who wants to show us their pride.

That’s right, our Homecoming Queer is fierce and bold!  Maybe you’re a Voguing virtuoso, a true make-up queen, a master of meme-making, a video artist, or something else entirely--show us!  Just make sure it has a Queerness to it, it’s PRIDE after all!

Make a video that’s under a minute and show us what you’ve got!

If your video post is the winner you will go down in the Queerstory books as our first virtual winner to be crowned Westchester Homecoming Queer--and enjoy a $250.00 USD cash prize and a custom pink glitter sash!

CONTEST DATES

Entries will be accepted starting 6/15/2020 to 6/26/2020 (ending at 11:59pm EST)

HOW TO ENTER:

1. You must be at least 18 years old to enter.  

2. Make an original video where you show us your PRIDE!  (If you’re using copyrighted music we encourage you to use Tik Tok).

3. Follow us on Instagram @loftlgbtcenter

4. Post your video onto your Instagram page and TAG Us (@loftlgbtcenter). Once your post appears on our Tag page--you are entered.  If you are using Tik Tok (which we love) follow us there too (Tik Tok profile:  loftlgbtcenter), but share your Tik Tok post onto your Instagram and then tag us from there.

5. Use the hashtag #homecomingqueer for all official entries.

6. You may enter only once. You may not enter more times than indicated by using multiple email addresses, identities, or devices in an attempt to circumvent the rules. If you use fraudulent methods or otherwise attempt to circumvent the rules, your submission may be removed from eligibility at the sole discretion of The LOFT.  

7. You can still enter the contest if you are not subscribed to Instagram and/or Tik Tok, simply e-mail your video to [email protected] following the rules stated above and within the contest time frame. 

CROWNING THE FIERCEST QUEER

• One account=one person.  If you are part of a duo, trio, or larger group and win the money will be awarded to the owner of the account. 

• The LOFT: LGBT Community Center staff reserves the right to determine finalists and will use criteria such as video likes and comments, LOFT staff and/or judges selected by The LOFT will select a contest winner. 

• The winner will be announced LIVE during the Westchester Pride Finale event taking place on Zoom on Sunday, June 28th from 4-6pm (EST) Click here to request the Zoom link for this event.  Winner need not be present to win. 

• Acceptance of the prize means The LOFT can use their name and likeness for advertising or marketing purposes

• Winner will be selected under the supervision of The LOFT. Winner will be notified by direct message or e-mail within 24 hours following selection of Winner. The LOFT shall have no liability for Winner’s failure to receive notices due to spam, junk e-mail or other security settings or for Winner’s provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information. If Winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim the prize within 7 days from the time award notification was sent, or fails to timely return a completed and executed declaration and release as required, the prize may be forfeited and an alternate Winner selected. Receipt by Winner of the prize offered in this contest is conditioned upon compliance with any and all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. ANY VIOLATION OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES BY WINNER AT THE LOFT’S SOLE DISCRETION WILL RESULT IN WINNER’S DISQUALIFICATION AS WINNER OF THE CAMPAIGN, AND ALL PRIVILEGES AS WINNER WILL BE IMMEDIATELY TERMINATED.

RESTRICTIONS:

• We don’t like restrictions either but sometimes they’re important.

• You need to be 18 or older by the time of your entry.

• Void where prohibited.  If you are from a country/locale where posting this can cause you harm or jeopardize your safety, please do not enter.

• You must use original video content that belongs to you.  You can use music if you have copyright permission or a license.  This is why we recommend if you’re using music to create through Tik Tok and then repost on Instagram.

• The video needs to be NEW and posted by contest date range of 6/15/2020-6/26/2020. (Hint: If you have something popular or cool from the past--recreate it in a new video, make it fresher, more fierce!)

• If there are other people in your video, please make sure you have their permission, if we receive a complaint your submission will be removed.

• We have a ZERO tolerance policy for hateful and/or vulgar language.  Please do not curse, or use homophobic, racial, religious, ethnic or cultural epithets and/or stereotypes. No crude jokes or put-downs.  This also includes music you are using. 

• Do not post any imagery that is pornographic in nature.  This includes partial or full exposure of genitals and or simulation of sexual acts.

• Do not post anything that puts you or anyone else in direct danger.  Please do not film yourself running through fire, petting a lion, swallowing detergent or dancing on the edge of a skyscraper. That’s not fierce, it’s foolish.

• By entering this video contest, you understand and agree that The LOFT and anyone acting on behalf of The LOFT, shall have the right, where permitted by law, to print, publish, broadcast, distribute, and use in any media now known or hereafter developed, in perpetuity, without limitation, your entry, name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness, image, statements about the contest, and biographical information for news, publicity, information, trade, advertising, public relations, and promotional purposes. without any further compensation, notice, review, or consent.  

• Upon entry to this contest you release and waive and agree to hold The LOFT, harmless from any claims, damages, or liabilities resulting from their use of the video and you agree not to bring any such claims against the released parties at any time in the future. This includes, but is not limited to, claims for violation of publicity rights and privacy rights, claims based on moral rights, claims for intrusion, claims for defamation, claims for fraud, claims for infliction of emotional distress, and claims for copyright or other intellectual property infringement, whether those claims may be based on statutes or the common law.
