The LOFT's marriage equality sources are saying that you do NOT need to get married again, and that the marriage license and ceremony you had is considered legal here in New York.

Getting Your Marriage License in Westchester and you have a Registered Domestic Partnership?
We've been told by a trusted source that if you and your partner have a Westchester Domestic Partnership, you should wait until after your legal wedding, and then disolved the Domestic Partnership thereafter. For more information about Westchester's DP Registry, Click Here!

LOFT Legal Clinic – Same Sex Marriage and What You Need to Know
This Legal Clinic was held on Wednesday, July 20th at 7pm at The LOFT

With marriage equality comes a slew of legal questions and concerns. Now that we have new benefits and privileges, we also have responsibilities, too. For instance, when you get married, you know are responsible for the debts of your spouse, among other things.

Attorney Meryl Fishbone: will be discussing how marriage equality affects children, adoption, family, and divorce/separation.

Attorney James Hyer: will be discussing the need to enter into marriage with a serious approach, discussing the possible need for prenuptial agreements, protections, and other issues.

Attonry Lisa Ayn Padilla: will discuss the continued need for same-sex couples to consider trusts and estates to further protect their loved ones.
