Rainbow Vespers Begins at MUMC - Thursday, March 19 at 6pm. Memorial United Methodist Church will begin holding a monthly interdenominational Rainbow Vespers, which are an evening worship service for the LGBT and supportive community. The service will be lead by Preacher Sara Thompson Tweedy. The first Rainbow Vespers will be held in MUMC's Chapel.

Anyone and Everyone Movie Night - Thursday, March 19th, 7:00pm refreshments, 7:30pm screening. Connected by having a son or daughter who is gay, parents across the country discuss their experiences in the documentary Anyone and Everyone. Filmmaker Susan Polis Schutz depicts families from all walks of life.

Sweet Tea: Book Signing and Reading - Monday March 2nd. Giving voice to a population rarely acknowledged in writings about the South, Sweet Tea collects life stories from black gay men who were born, raised, and continue to live in the southern United States. E. Patrick Johnson challenges stereotypes of the South as "backward" or "repressive," suggesting that these men draw upon the performance of "southernness"--politeness, coded speech, and religiosity, for example--to legitimate themselves as members of both southern and black cultures. At the same time, Johnson argues, they deploy those same codes to establish and build friendship networks and to find sexual partners and life partners.

Mindfulness in Yoga and Meditation - December 3rd and 14. Join us for one or both wonderful sessions of yoga and meditation! By practicing both forms, we will discover how the physical practice of yoga can enhance the calm that is developed in meditation, while the practice of mindfulness of body sensations can enhance our yoga practice.

LOFT Men's Group to Focus on Safer Sex - November 18th.The LOFT's Men’s Peer Support Group will be welcoming Paul Moccio, Gay Men's Health Educator at AIDS Related Community Services (ARCS), to lead a focus group. Learn today's newest techniques to keep yourself safer while still having fun. This workshop uses media images as well as comprehensive techniques that will make it easy for men who have sex with men to keep safe.

The all-day training provides participants with the skills and language to talk to legislators and the media about the various issues involved in achieving marriage equality, legal protections for transgender and gender non-conforming people, and safe schools for all youth, Organize local events in your community to build support for LGBT families and their allies, and Mobilize LGBT supporters where you live.

Rockland County: LGBT Families of Faith Photo Album Display - December 10. The LGBT Families of Faith Photo Album will be begin in Rockland County, travel to the lower Hudson Valley and then up to Albany for Equality & Justice Day on April 28th.

Benefit to Help Sylvia's Place: Homeless LGBT Youth Shelters - January 30th. Sadly, homelessness for LGBT youth is at an all-time high. Kicked out, forced out, and sometimes beat out of their homes, they have no place to turn but places like Sylvia's Place, an emergency shelter for homeless LGBT youth. Come out, have fun, and support this worthy cause.

Unmasked: A Masquerade Dance to De-Spell Rumors - February 6th. A Dance (bring your mask!) with food, a DJ, and lots of other surprises! Find out which rumors are true and not true about: healthy relationships, safe sex, LGBTQ issues, and meet new people from other high schools with the same interests and concerns.
