The LOFT's OUTWalking Group will be participating in Greenwich Audubon's LGBT event on Saturday, June 30th from 11am to 1pm.
OUTWalking is an outdoor hiking and walking group for the LGBTQ community.
From Greenwich Audubon's website:
In honor of Pride Month, join us for a special bird-watching outing and celebration of diversity and inclusion of both birds and people. You will learn about the many colorful birds that call Audubon Greenwich home and go for a leisurely walk through our fields, orchards and woods to see many of them up close. Just as all of these birds and wildlife are welcome in our sanctuary so are all people!
Many of Audubon's programs are based around bird watching and educating the public on bird/wildlife conservation and National Audubon wants to fully extend its welcome mat to all people and promote equality. In that spirit Audubon Centers across the country will be hosting Let's Go Birding Together walks this month to engage and welcome the LGBT community to experience nature and connect with friends old and new.
Our program starts at 11 AM and will consist of a brief introduction to the bird life of Connecticut inside our Nature Center Building followed by an outdoor walk through our meadows, orchard, pond and woods. Many species of birds live in our sanctuary as well as countless insects such as butterflies and dragonflies, frogs, turtles, rabbits, chipmunks and much more.
Binoculars will be available to those who need them, bring sunscreen and weather-appropriate clothes
Ages 6 and up - $5 members, $8 non-members
