Transgender Groups

As one of the primary providers of programs and services for the transgender community, The LOFT LGBT Community Center continues to find unique ways to improve the health and well-being of transgender and gender nonconforming individuals.

Transgender Support Group
One of the oldest transgender support groups in the Lower Hudson Valley, the Transgender Discussion and Activity Group is run by trained facilitators for individuals and their partners who identify as transgender, transsexual, cross-dresser, gender non-conforming, intersex, gender queer or anywhere on the trans and GNC spectrum. Takes place the 1st and 3rd Sundays at 4pm and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays at 7:30 pm. Free but a donation can is passed.  No RSVP required. Open Topic. Open to anyone 18 years and older.

Young Adult Transgender Group

This group is currently closed to new attendees.  Contact The LOFT to be attended to a waiting list. Meets the 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesdays of each month from 6:30pm-8:30pm. It is open to any individuals ages 18 to 28 who identify as transgender or are questioning their gender identity/expression. This group is a collaboration of WJCS’ Center Lane and The LOFT: LGBT Community Center.

This group is designed to help members:
1. Become conscious of what is going on inside themselves
2. Become conscious of how they are interacting with the group
3. Become more aware of themselves and the people they interact with on a regular basis.

LOFT Transgender Pro Bono Name Change

By appointment, this service to the transgender community is conducted by a volunteer attorney who assists in the oftentimes complicated process of changing one's name to their correct gender. For appointments, call us at 914-948-2932 x14.

TransMission
This program of The LOFT raises funds for a pool of money that is used to offset medical costs for applicants in need of hormone therapy, reassignment surgery, and other medical needs our transgender brothers and sisters require, but which are often expensive, nor covered by insurance.

The T Project
Sponsored by a grant from the Arts Westchester and produced by The LOFT, the T Project is a multi-media project that includes portraits and personal stories about the lives of transgender people as part of a celebration of the community and a way to raise trans-awareness.

Transgender Day of Remembrance/Awareness

Takes place in mid-November to remember those lives lost internationally to trans-phobic violence.

CenterLane TransParentcy Group

Meets the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month, from 6:30pm-8:30pm. This group is for transgender/gender nonconforming youth and their parents. The entire group meets together, then the youth and adults split up and have their own meeting with Center Lane staff.
