Creating Safe Schools for TGNCNB Students

 


Workshop Description: This workshop will address how K-12 schools can make their settings safe for their transgender and gender expansive students and educate their community members. All are welcome to attend, with a special welcome to school personnel.


Workshop Format: This workshop, led by a former school social worker and a transgender man, we will provide GLSEN resources and a Q+A session.


Bio: MJ Karger is a retired cis-gender school social worker, who has co-chaired GLSEN Hudson Valley Chapter for 20 years, co-facilitates Putnam FLAG and presented at hundreds of school and mental health workshops in the Hudson Valley. Co-presenter Tony Arrien, a transgender man, who is a LOFT board member, GLSEN Hudson Valley board member and is active in Putnam PFLAG. He has presented at various transgender conferences on the East Coast, as well as with the GLSEN Hudson Valley chapter.
