HVTF Workshop 3 on Friday, November 20th | 3:10-4:25pm
Trans Accountable Leadership: A Community Conversation
|Alex Francisco||Loren Klein|
Workshop Description: Updated from last year with fresh insights, this conversational workshop will focus on generating actionable solutions for Trans and Non-Binary, as well as cisgender, professionals. Together we will address questions like: How does your organization make decisions about TGNCNB programming and policies? Are TGNCNB People of Color in positions of power and authority within your organization? How do you recognize and resource the work of un-paid community organizers who have been keeping TGNCNB people alive and building the national movement for decades? Does your organization hire trans people?
Workshop Format: In this workshop we will discuss what accountability means through an anti-oppression, social justice lens. We will share successes and failures of accountable leadership relevant to both cisgender and Trans/Non-Binary leaders.
About the Rockland County Pride Center: The Rockland County Pride Center is a 501(c)(3) LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer) organization with an anti-racist, social justice mission. Our purpose is to support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, challenge stereotypes and practices that adversely impact Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer people, and provide a wide range of services to ensure equitable resources and opportunities for all – with no exceptions.
Alex Francisco (she/her) is the Coordinator of Youth & Young Adult Services for the Rockland County Pride Center. She is the founding mother of the Pride Center’s LGBTQ+ Youth Program, which provides a web of community care and healing that centers the needs of Black and Latin, and Transgender and Non-Binary youth. This community space is the first of its kind in Rockland County. Alex brings more than two decades of experience in community organizing, performance, and therapeutic beauty practices to the work.

Loren educates professionals on LGBTQ+ topics, plans events that celebrate the joy and resilience of Transgender and Non-Binary people, and works to build community power through community care.
