All My Friends - Punk/Alternative
I am a self-taught, queer multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, performing original music for 20 years. I am the songwriter and front woman of All My Friends, a punk band, an ode to resistance and queerness bridging the gap between audience and performer. Performing original punk music since age 15, I apply what I learned from the do-it-yourself punk ethos with my passion for creating art and community gatherings. Everything from finding unconventional spaces for performance starting in church basements, to creating and designing flyers and merchandise.
My collaboration with local musicians, businesses, and community centers ensures that the audience becomes an integral part of the experience, rather than just a spectator.
With EP’s and multiple singles on streaming (including the latest original punk song Nothing List), All My Friend's upcoming full-length album serves as the culmination of these efforts to tackle pressing social justice issues and personal pressures in a post-pandemic society while reconnecting with my hometown and revitalizing childhood musical connections. Each track is an anthem to resistance, strength, and vulnerability. My goal is not only to raise awareness and visibility of the genre but to empower LGBTQ+ artists of the future. At a time when heightened LGBTQ+ visibility in the arts is juxtaposed with the rise of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, this music not only aims to raise visibility but also to empower and celebrate our community.
I am deeply grateful and inspired by queer musicians of the past, present and future. Folks like Sylvestor, Boy George, Melissa Etheridge, KD Lang, Ani Difranco, Freddy Mercury & Bob Mould paving the way for Tegan and Sara, Against Me!, St Vincent, Frank Ocean, Boygenius, Lil Nas X and so many more amazing artists. I can’t wait to continue to see these artists thrive and inspire the next generation of musicians.
LGBTQ+ artist empowerment is the root of my work. It’s why I founded the LOFT group Queer Voices, a safe space for LGBTQ+ songwriters & performers to share music, learn, and support one another. Music shares, guest speakers, and open mic opportunities offer folks a safe space to be their authentic self. Queer Voices is intergenerational with a diverse range of musical genres and styles from punk rock, folk, jazz, opera, electronic music, epic ballads, rap, and more.
