OUTSpoken: A Genderfluid Journey

New OUTSpoken article!

In the latest edition of OutSpoken, former LOFT intern Keiran Elden explores his/her/their gender identity. Through a labyrinth of labels and information,  trial and error they search for the meaning of their own gender identity. What fits, what doesn't it? Find inspiration in Keiran's journey as she/he/they work to discover the truest nature of themselves.  This personal essay also marks the annual celebration of International Non-Binary Day, July 14.

NY Dept of Health: Town Hall on Monkeypox

Monday, July 11, 2022 from 5:30PM-6:30PM

The New York State Department of Health and New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene will host a virtual town hall to provide a situational update on the evolving monkeypox outbreak in New York City and New York State. To date, most diagnoses have been among men who identify as gay, bisexual, or men who have sex with men. Engagement with the affected community is key to an effective response.

New York State and New York City health officials are eager to engage directly in dialogue with organizations, representatives, and advocates from New York’s LGBTQ+ community about the current outbreak as well as our response; to address outstanding questions; to share existing resources; and to gather feedback which will continue to inform our response.

We invite you to join New York State Health Commissioner Mary Bassett, M.D., M.P.H., and New York City Health Commissioner Ashwin Vasan, M.D., Ph.D., as we discuss this evolving monkeypox outbreak affecting New Yorkers as well as the NYS/NYC response.

Questions can be submitted ahead of time by emailing [email protected]

This video is a beautiful reminder that in all our stories we are one, we are the rainbow of humanity.  Thank you to all of our community members, volunteers, and staff who participated.  Thank you to CBS NY and Dana Tyler who used their platform to share our story with the nation.
