About the event

Non-binary gender identities are not only valid & beautiful, but are an integral part of human existence. Non-Binary Night Out is an in-person gathering intended to make space to empower, hold visibility for, and celebrate non-binary community members' excellence, power and joy.

This event will feature:

  • Open mic - Bring your art, music or poetry with you to share at the event! To participate in the open mic we ask that your work center around non-binary identity/gender expansiveness, whatever that means to you! You can sign up for the open mic through our sign up sheet on the night of the event, each open mic space is 2-3 mins long.
  • Games - What better way to mingle and meet new people than through a friendly card game? We will have games available for those who wish to participate throughout the night. Additionally, we will close out our celebration with NON-BINARY BINGO! A very special bingo game featuring non-binary trivia and Pride Merch Prizes!
  • Reflection - This event will give space for reflection through interactive spaces where you can write or draw out your feelings, and through facilitated community conversation space.
  • Supportive community - Non-Binary Night Out is open to everyone, regardless of identity. This means that you do not need to identify as non-binary to attend. At this event, and any other LOFT event, The LOFT is a safe space and we ask that all present practice active allyship.

We will also have an ongoing playlist featuring music by non-binary, trans, and gender expansive artists! Come with your song suggestions to add to the mix!

COVID Safety Precautions for this event

This event will be held both indoors and outdoors at The LOFT's center in White Plains, NY.

We recognize and respect that everyone has varying comfort around in-person events. We also recognize that wearing a mask does not indicate that a person is unvaccinated, and do not tolerate harassment or discrimination regarding vaccination status at our center. Below are our mask-wearing guidelines.

Fully vaccinated individuals: Per CDC guidelines, fully vaccinated individuals are not required to wear a mask indoors or outdoors unless otherwise mandated by state or local law or regulations.

Unvaccinated individuals: Per CDC guidelines, unvaccinated individuals should wear a mask indoors at all times and outdoors when they cannot be socially distant or as otherwise mandated by state or local law or regulations.

Masks are required for everyone to access the restroom facilities in the building.

What is Non-Binary?

People whose gender is not male or female use many different terms to describe themselves, with non-binary being one of the most common. Other terms include genderqueer, agender, bigender, and more. None of these terms mean exactly the same thing – but all speak to an experience of gender that is not simply male or female. (learn more here)

What is International Non-Binary Day?
