Carly Borenkind

Ms. Carly Borenkind, LCSW began her professional career working as a therapist in psychiatric hospitals, outpatient mental health, and substance abuse clinics. Ms. Borenkind transitioned from clinical practice into healthcare quality assurance and compliance in 2009. In this first role, Ms. Borenkind was instrumental in developing and implementing an effective compliance program at a multi-service provider organization (The Guidance Center of Westchester) where she became the compliance officer in 2013. Ms. Borenkind took a brief break from compliance to work with an organization (VIP Community Services) to help them launch a behavioral health center at their multi-service provider organization. In 2015 Ms. Borenkind joined JASA as the Compliance Officer and Director of Compliance, Privacy, and Quality where she helped develop and implement an effective compliance program which included fully developing and operationalizing the HIPAA Privacy and Security program. As a member of the Senior Leadership team, Ms. Borenkind worked to weave compliance into the day-to-day operations and ensured that staff throughout the organization, at all levels, understood how to bring forth compliance issues via open lines of communication. In 2018 Ms. Borenkind joined EmblemHealth as the Director of Medicare Compliance and was named as the Medicare Compliance Officer in 2019. In 2023 Ms. Borenkind assumed responsibility for External Audit and Commercial Compliance as the AVP, Medicare Compliance Officer. Ms. Borenkind also holds a leadership role (secretary) in PRISM, EmblemHealth’s LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group, where she serves as the Co-Chair of the LGBTQ+ Healthcare Coalition which brings together healthcare providers from New York and Connecticut to share best practices for serving LGBTQ+ patients.

Ms. Borenkind has been living in White Plains since 1998 where she met her wife in 2005. They were married atop Niagara Falls in Canada in 2008. Ms. Borenkind has been committed to ensuring that LGBTQ+ voices are heard and that their rights are protected. She served on the Westchester County LGBTQ Advisory Board from 2002-2008 and provided consulting and clinical services to the LOFT over the years. Ms. Borenkind is an avid reader, who enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her wife and her rescue dog Twinkie.
