LOFT Mourns Loss of Community Member Ed Fitzpatrick

April 9, 2021 (White Plains)

The LOFT LGBTQ+ Community Center announces the passing of community member and volunteer, Edward D Fitzpatrick ("Ed"). Ed was a LOFT member for years and was famous for his smart quips and positive personality. As a volunteer, he helped facilitate the LGBTQ+ 55+ Peer Support Group and was a member of Silver Connections and The Writers Workshop, where one of his personal essays was published in The LOFT's WriteOut Senior Writing Anthology, Fingerprints.

According to his daughter Lauren (who posted on via his Facebook page), "Hello everyone. This is Ed's daughter, Lauren. It is with great sadness that after an unrelenting nine-month battle against esophageal cancer, Dad passed away comfortably and peacefully last night at about 11:55 pm [April 8, 2021]. Please know he maintained his strength of character and especially his sense of humor to the very end, and he was not alone. I will be posting more information as arrangements are made. Thank you."
