The Spirituality Support & Discussion Group is a meeting for all over 18 to discover, rekindle, or live in faith and/or spirituality. Individuals of any belief system are welcome to participate in discussion, share experiences, questions/concerns, and seek advice with other spiritual individuals.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, this group will be meeting virtually until further notice. (Click here to learn more)
On Tuesday November 15th Spirituality will have a Guest Speaker!
Guest Speaker: Faith Rivers
Faith Rivers was born and raised in Northern Westchester County, NY, where she currently lives. She is a hairstylist by trade, dedicated to dismantling cis-hetero normative and eurocentric beauty ideals. An activist in her daily life, she uses her SGI Nichiren Buddhist practice to speak out and take action against systemic injustice and to find a sense of mission within life’s realities.
SGI Nichiren Buddhist practice consists of chanting "nam-myoho-renge-kyo" to bring out the limitless wisdom, courage, and compassion that every single person has within. Faith decided to try it out in 2012 when she had been hopeless about her career, her identity and the future of humanity. She still feels hopeless at times, and now uses her practice to pull hope and joy out of the most challenging times and when facing adversity.
Join us on November 15th for a discussion on using spirituality to face adversity and challenging times!
