Trans Legal Clinic

Session Description

The Trans Legal Clinic will provide an overview of the current legal landscape. It will discuss the federal and state protections and issues that affect LGBTQ individuals. It will also focus specifically on the protections for transgender and gender nonconforming youth and adults.


Audience

This workshop is intended for all interested in learning more about current legal protections for the transgender community.


About the presenters

Christopher Oldi a Supervising Attorney located in the Yonkers Office of Legal Services of the Hudson Valley (LSHV) where he supervises staff attorneys and support staff.  Prior to becoming a supervisor, Christopher spearheaded and was the staff attorney of LSHV’s LGBTQ Legal Project where he represented low income LGBTQ individuals in the Hudson Valley in areas such as discrimination, name changes, landlord/tenant matters, disability advocacy, and other civil legal services. He continues to support the LGBTQ Legal Project in his current position.  Christopher was honored by the Westchester County Board of Legislatures in 2016 for his work with the LGBTQ Community during the Board’s LGBTQ Pride Celebration.  Christopher was also a named as a “Diversity Champion” by the Westchester County Business Journal in 2017.  He was also the recipient of The LOFT’s “Ally Award” this year, and September 28, 2017 was named “Christopher Oldi Day” in Westchester County in connection with this honor.

Neelu Pathiyil is a Staff Attorney in the White Plains Office of Legal Services of the Hudson Valley (LSHV) in LSHV’s LGBTQ Legal Project, where she represents low income LGBTQ individuals in the Hudson Valley in various civil legal matters. Neelu earned her J.D. in 2017 from Fordham University School of Law, and her B.A. in 2013 from Macaulay Honors College at CUNY City College of New York.
